Valentine 5K returns to Lake Tomahawk

STAFF REPORT

This year Black Mountain Recreation & Parks will be hosting the 17th Annual Valentine 5K and Half-Mile Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Feb. 13.

The 5K will start and finish at beautiful Lake Tomahawk Park in Black Mountain and begins with a shot-gun start at 9:30 a.m. The course will take runners on three of the town’s greenways and will provide several challenging hills, with ample flats to gain ground and time.

The Half-Mile Kids Fun Run will take place on the trail around Lake Tomahawk, beginning by the tennis courts at 9 a.m. (with a warm-up from 8:50-8:55 a.m.) This route eliminates all traffic and allows kids to run freely. All children participating will receive medals.

The fun run is free but all children must be registered.

Kids and adults are encouraged to wear Valentine costumes as spirit awards will be given to the most outrageous outfits.

In conjunction with the race will be the 3rd annual Wellness Expo, upstairs in the Lakeview Clubhouse from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Stop by for a free chair massage, or talk to a chiropractor, pharmacist or other wellness practitioner. Prizes to give away as well.

To register for the 5K or Fun Run, please go the www.blackmountainrec.org or stop by our office for a paper form.
