Anyla Kryeziu wins AAC Volleyball Player of the Year

Volleyball season came to a close for the Montreat College Cavaliers on Nov. 10 when they fell in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee.

But before the season ended the Cavaliers received big news regarding senior Anyla "AK" Kryeziu, who earned 2017 AAC Volleyball Player of the Year honors.

Anyla "AK" Kryeziu, 12, was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference 2017 Volleyball Player of the Year at the conference tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Kryeziu, a native of Kosovo, moved to the U.S. as a child to escape an armed conflict in her native country.

Kryeziu, a key member of the Cavaliers since her freshman season, helped lead the team to a 14-13 overall record and a 10-7 conference mark in 2017.

She also earned a spot on the All-AAC team for her performance this season, along with teammates Abby Graham, Courtney Glover and Kendra Johnson.
