Owen High School athletics are well represented among the spring all-conference teams that the Western Highlands Conference announced recently. Sixteen Owen students in four sports were selected.
The Warlassies softball team that advanced to the third round of the state playoffs placed five players on the all-conference team. Ashley Valencia, Jaiden Tweed, Caitlyn Ledford, Anissa Avila and Natalie Stewart were recognized by the conference for their performances during the regular season. Tweed was named pitcher of the year in the Western Highlands Conference as well.
On the baseball diamond, the Warhorses received all-conference-caliber seasons from five players. Senior Brady Parker was named all-conference as well as co-pitcher of the year in the Western Highlands Conference. He was joined by fellow seniors Hunter Baxter, Aaron Stone and Kaleb Waycaster. Owen’s overall athlete of the year, junior Brian Bartlett, was also all-conference.
Three members of the school’s boys tennis team were named all-conference as well. Gable Lammens, Sean Douglas and Joseph Frith were recognized for their efforts on the court this season.
Three members of the Warlassies soccer team earned all-conference. Lindsey Slone, Abby Lehman and C.J. Graham represented Owen on the Western Highlands Conference team after leading the Warlassies to a playoff appearance.
