Pitcher Hensley signs pro deal in Mexico
From staff reports
Owen alum Steven Hensley made his debut July 15 in the Mexican League.
The right-handed pitcher has signed a deal with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, which is a Triple-A level team based out of Mexico City.
He threw 1.1 scoreless innings on Wednesday, scattering one hit and one walk in a 3-2 loss to Olmecas de Tabasco.
Hensley, 28, was released earlier this month by the Los Angeles Angels, and at the time was a member of their Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake City. The 2005 Owen graduate has a career record of 36-37 with a 4.39 era and 524 strikeouts in 639 innings pitched.
Hensley was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2008 major league draft by the Seattle Mariners.
