Robert Weeks
Asheville
Retired Marine Corp Major Robert Wallace Weeks (Bob), age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven at 7:00 AM on August 19, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.
Bob was born in Taunton, MA to the late Robert S. and Beryl L. Grassie Weeks. He was predeceased by his brother Bill. Bob has two sisters, Sandy and Susan both of Taunton, MA. He loved them and all his nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his family, son Drew Weeks and family of Austin, TX, step-daughter Terri Elder and family of Inman, SC and step-son Koen Witherrite also of Inman, SC. Bob was married to Karen Weeks for 14 and 1/2 years. They resided in Black Mountain, NC for 10 years and then moved to Inman, SC. Bob was the love of her life, a gentleman and always thinking of others. Bob will be deeply missed.
Major Weeks was in the USMC for 20 years and served two tours in Vietnam. He was highly decorated and received a Silver Star and three Bronze Stars for his heroic efforts with other awards. The first Vietnam tour was with a reconnaissance company working out of Chu Li. He worked in 4-5 man teams watching and reporting Viet Cong movements and calling in artillery/air strikes as needed. The second tour Bob was a Company Commander with operations throughout the area around DaNang. After he was retired, he went to work with Allied Signal on Government Contract for 10 years.
Bob was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Spartanburg. Bob and Karen enjoyed many medical/evangelism mission trips together spreading the salvation message of Jesus. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and attending reunion with the USMC Force Recon Association.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 24 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Pastor Rob Gouge officiated. Full military honors were rendered by the USMC.

Faye Clubb
Fairview
Faye Clubb, 81, of Fairview, passed away August 17, 2018.
Faye was born November 10, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Tom and Viola Owenby.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, C.J. Clubb; and son, Edward Clubb (Eddie).
Faye was a 34-year survivor of breast cancer until she was recently diagnosed again with cancer.
She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Ray (John Stephens) of Arden; three sons, Michael Clubb of Candler, Ricky Clubb (Ethelene) of Nebo, and Terry Clubb of Fairview, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; special friend, Lexe; two sisters, Doris Brown of Black Mountain and Katheline Shipman (Jesse) of Black Mountain; and four brothers, Cecil Owenby (Arlene) of Black Mountain, Jerry Owenby of Alexander, Raymond Owenby (Ina) of Black Mountain, and Kenneth Owenby of Swannaoa.
The family received friends on Aug. 21 at Harwood Home for Funerals with a funeral service immediately following. Burial took place in Mountain View Memorial Park.

Doris Loftis
Asheville
Doris (Da) Wainwright Loftis, 91, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018.
Da was born and raised in Florida where she married Dr. Warren T. Loftis, Jr. They raised four daughters in Tampa. The family spent summers in Montreat, NC and moved there in 1973. Da was the receptionist in Warren’s medical practice both in Tampa and Black Mountain, NC. She was also the receptionist at Asheville Dance Theater. Da was an active member in Palma Ceia, Hyde Park, Montreat and Trinity Presbyterian Churches. Since 2013, she lived at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. Her family thanks the staff of the Laurels for their loving care.
Da is preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Faye Wainwright; husband, Warren T. Loftis, Jr.; daughter, Marsha Philips; and sons-in-law, Graham Philips and Steve Gadaire.
She is survived by her daughters, Melinda Christian (Bill), LuAnne Anderson (Randy), and Becky Wilson (Bobby); sisters, Judy Sandman (Bill) and Joyce Cattanach (Dennis); 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 am at Trinity Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service.

Caroline McGuire
Arden
Carolyn Joan (McCall) McGuire, 76, of Arden, went Home Monday, August 20, 2018 at Elizabeth House, Hendersonville.
Born in Black Mountain, she was the wife of the late Gerald Lee McGuire, who passed April 1, 2010, and the daughter of the late Glenn Aurault and Virginia (Ballard) McCall. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey McGuire, and a brother, Larry McCall.
She was employed as the Benefits Co-Ordinator for Buncombe County Schools for 27 years until her retirement, and also worked for
TJ Maxx on Tunnel Road for 21 years.
Carolyn never met a stranger. She had a loving heart and welcomed everyone into her home as part of the family. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Kim McGuire, Wendy Kilpatrick, and Cindy Lindsey, all of Arden; 6 grandchildren: Cynthia Cantrell, Stephanie Kilpatrick,
Justin Lindsey, Emilie McGuire, Mallory McGuire, and Kara Wayman; 2 great-grandchildren: Ariana and Tempest Lindsey; and 2 sisters: Sandra Martin of Greenville, SC
And Ann Moore of Lavonia, GA. She was Nani to Kristen, Andrew, Tori, Sophia, Kaylen, Matthew, and Peyton.
Graveside services were held Aug. 24 at Avery’s Creek Methodist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Jack Taylor officiating.

Timmy Goldsmith

William Timothy “Timmy” Goldsmith, 59, of Swannanoa passed suddenly on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home.
Born December 17, 1958 in Habersham County, GA, he was a son of Walter Goldsmith Sr. and Martha Hollifield Goldsmith of Candler. Timmy was employed by Drexel Heritage for 21 years before seeking employment with Ingle’s for the last 17 years.
Fishing was his passion as he would stay on the water for hours on end. He had a magnetic personality and was loved by many. He is preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Goldsmith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings: Walter M Goldsmith Jr. and his spouse, Judy, of Swannanoa, Gary Goldsmith of Arden, Sherry Carver of Asheville, David Goldsmith and his spouse, Gwendalin, of Candler, Russell Goldsmith and his spouse, Lisa, Spring Creek, and Michael Goldsmith and his spouse, Rhonda, of Marshall; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held Aug. 25 in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Haney officiating.

Michelle Trull
Swannanoa
Michelle Lavonne Trull, 47, of Swannanoa passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born August 19, 1971 in Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy Robinson and Susan Marlene Davis.
She was a leathersmith, talented nail technician, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Ralph Patton Jr.
Surviving is her son, Jacob S. Trull and his fiancée, Fairest Grant, of Marion, and granddaughter, Jewels Trull. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at Patton Cove Gospel Mission in Black Mountain.
