Mary Frances Burleson Thomas
Mary Frances Burleson Thomas, 61, of Swannanoa passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015.
Mrs. Thomas was born October 5, 1953 in Buncombe County to the late Leonard and Cuba Neese Burleson.
She was employed with Kearfott for over 30 years. Mary was a loving child of God who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Max Burleson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ray Thomas; daughter, Heather Boyer (Timothy) of Asheville; son, Chris Thomas (Candace) of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; and grandchildren, Caleb Thomas and Jaime Boyer.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastors Randy Stone, Chris Thomas, Robert Thomas and Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial followed in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.
The family received friends Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Harwood Home for Funerals.

Evelyn Cornelia Owensby Greene
Evelyn Cornelia Owensby Greene, 95, of Cameron and formerly of Swannanoa, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at PEAK Resource Pinelake Health and Rehab in Carthage.
Born August 6, 1919 in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nancy Pruett Owensby. Also preceding her in death is her late husband, Reuben S. Greene; her brother, Charles Owensby, Jr. and his late wife, Blanche; and her sister, Kathleen Babb and her late husband, Roy.
Mrs. Greene was a graduate of Swannanoa High School and Asheville Beauty School. She was the owner and beautician of Evelyn's Beauty Shop in Grovemont. Mrs. Greene was a member of the former Azalea Methodist Church and also attended Swannanoa Christian Church. In her later life, Mrs. Greene attended classes at A-B Tech, and took up drawing, and writing stories.
Survivors include her son, Vincent S. Greene and his wife, Katharyn of Cameron; and granddaughter, Evelyn Ann Greene of Chapel Hill.
A visitation for family and friends was 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel in Swannanoa, with a graveside service following at Piney Grove Cemetery in Swannanoa.
