Montreat College presents Moses as commencement speaker

The Rev. Mike Moses, lead pastor of Charlotte’s Lake Forest Church and former Evangelical Presbyterian Church moderator, will be the featured speaker at Montreat College’s Commencement exercises at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, in Montreat’s Anderson Auditorium.

Moses is the founding and lead pastor of Lake Forest Church, an evangelical Presbyterian church north of Charlotte, where he has been for the past 19 years.

He began his journey working as a youth minister for Young Life and as pastor of spiritual growth for a church plant, Hope Church, in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1998, Moses helped kick-start Lake Forest Church with an original group of 42 at a skating rink where he preached under a disco ball. Since that day, he has helped the church grow to a church of more than 2,000 people. The church is known for its mission activity in the community and around the world, done while maintaining its focus on following Jesus. Moses was moderator for Lake Forest Church’s denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in 2015.

Moses earned his D.Min. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, his M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in history from the College of William & Mary. He has been married to his wife, Angie, since 1988. Together they have two sons, Dylan, a student at Brown University, and Austin, a student at UNC Chapel Hill.
