Lunch and learn at OLLI “Fab Fridays”
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNC Asheville has started its free Fab Friday lunch-and-learn series in the Reuter Center on UNC Asheville’s campus. Here’s the schedule.
Sept. 30 – Senior Brain Health: Cognition or Perspiration, with Patrick Foo, UNCA associate professor of psychology who directs the university’s Neuroscience Program.
Oct. 7 – Beer City USA, with Asheville craft brewers Oscar Wong and Leah Wong Ashburn of Highland Brewing, Tim Schaller of The Wedge Brewing Co. and Alex Dwoinen of New Belgium Brewery.
Oct. 14 – Macular Degeneration and the Blue Light Danger with optometrist Dr. Kim Walters.
Oct. 21 – The Black Potter, with self-taught ceramist Jim McDowell who presents a personal and historical perspective on face jugs from African traditions.
Oct. 28 – Bone Health, Osteoporosis, and Why Gravity is Good, with Dr. David F. Ward, a former NASA surgeon.
Nov. 4 – The Answer World with Answer Man and Answer Woman columnists John Boyle and Casey Blake of The Asheville Citizen-Times.
Fab Fridays are presented from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in the Reuter Center by OLLI, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville. Fab Fridays are free and open to everyone, with brown bag lunches welcome and lunches available for purchase in the Reuter Café.
