Disc golf tourney is planned for fundraiser
The Swannanoa Valley Montessori School has teamed up with Pisgah Brewing to bring family fun and disc golf to Black Mountain on April 16 to raise money for the school. Spring Fling & Family Disc Jam will begin at noon, end at 6 p.m. and will be held at Pisgah Brewing stage and outdoor amphitheatre, 150 Eastside Drive, Black Mountain.
The day will include a Pro-Am and Parent-Child Disc Golf Tournament, live music and dance performances. There will be food and drinks, family fun booths and a “Shop Local Basket” silent auction.
Swannanoa Valley Montessori Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building a sustainable and vital environment for children to actualize their full human potential and bring about peace in the world.
“As a Montessori School, we understand that children really learn more by touching, seeing, smelling, tasting and exploring, than by just listening,” the school stated in a press release. “Our developmentally appropriate approach has been designed to fit each individual child, instead of making the child fit the program. Part of our mission is to create an environment where children can explore their interests and participate in a wide variety of activities that nurture their natural curiosity and make leaning an engaging experience.”
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Pisgah Brewing Company to create a day of family fun and we hope to start a tradition with the Pro-Am and Parent-Child Disc Golf Tournament,” Erin Van Note, the school’s director of development, said. “It is promises to be a fun day to raise money for education in the Valley.”
Admission is free. Registration for the disc golf tournament is $20 per team. Register at pisgahbrewing.com/shows/svms-family-discjam/. Call the school at 669-8571 for more or to register for the tournament.
