Spring breaks out at The Red House
The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League announces the opening of its April show, entitled “Springtime.” The kickoff reception, open to the public, is from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 1 at The Red House Studios and Gallery, 310 W. State St., Black Mountain. The show concludes on May 1. The Red House is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.
The show, composed of artwork in various media from league artists, “will reflect the observations, impressions and delight with the arrival of spring,” said Donna Davis, curator for the show. “The artists who make up the SVFAL are talented individuals who are inspired by the beauty of the western mountains.”
The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League is the oldest fine art league in the area. Formed in 1967 with 82 artists, it now has 140 members. One new member is Bob Falanga, a photo collage artist. His artwork entitled, “Orchidia” is his entry into the show.
Judy Barron Williams, a member since the league’s move to the Red House, submitted her watercolor “Plum Blossom.” Denise Geiger, a member of the league since 2002, submitted a pastel work entitled “Mount Mitchell Awakens.”
All-volunteer, SVFAL members are an active organization.
