Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley
The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Incidents
Jan. 28
Larceny was reported on the 2300 block of U.S. 70.
Trafficking opiates, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked plate and driving with no insurance were reported at a business on the 200 block of N.C. 9.
Jan. 29
An animal bite was reported on the 100 block of Jims Branch Access Road.
Jan. 30
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the 100 block of Poplar Street. Stereo equipment valued at $480 was reported stolen.
Jan. 31
An animal bite was reported on the 100 block of Riddle Road.
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the 500 block of Laurel Avenue. A binder valued $10 was reported stolen.
Feb. 1
Assault on a government official, disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing an officer were reported on the first block of Lake Eden Road.
An animal attack was reported on the 100 block of Pinetree Drive.
Arrests
Jan. 24
Lance Colbey Whitaker, 18, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Yow Drive and charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana greater than a half ounce - an ounce and a half.
Jan. 28
Steve Dalton Burrell, 19, of Swannanoa, was arrested at a business on the 200 block of N.C. 9 and charged with traffickin in opium or heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with no insurance, operating a vehicle with a canceled, revoked or suspended tag and violating a protective order.
Matthe Joseph Rice, 33, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of McCoy Cove Road and charged with violating a protective order.
