Mary Harwood Hensley, 77, a native and lifelong resident of Asheville, passed way January 22, 2016 at the Asheville Health Care Center.
Born June 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Catherine Harwood. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Bill, J.B., and Sam Harwood; and granddaughter, Ashley Hensley Raymer.
Mrs. Hensley retired from TDP Electronics, and was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother and was highly regarded for her wonderful cooking.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, William “Bill” Hensley; children, Jacki Cline of Asheville, Gary (Tina) Cline of Asheville, David (Laura) Cline of Hendersonville, and Alan (Debbie) Hensley of Asheville; sisters, Jo Harvey of Swannanoa, Margaret Epley of Aiken, SC, and Bessie Hensley of Black Mountain; and grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, D.J., Kris, Holly, and Nick.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Hensley's memory to Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries, 101 N. Ridgeway Ave., Black Mountain, NC 28711. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful nurses, CNAs and staff at Asheville Health Care Center for their love and care for Mrs. and Mr. Hensley.

William “Bill” Roper

William “Bill” Roper, 77, of Swannanoa passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
Mr. Roper was born December 11, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late William and Helen Glenn Roper. Bill was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping, the beach, and traveling with family. He was also the best papaw ever. He was a veteran of the US Army, and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Williams Roper; daughter, Cindi Brantley and husband, Tony; granddaughter, Anna Brantley; step-grandsons, Ben and Weston Brantley; special niece, Julie Williams; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1 pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals. The family received friends immediately following the service. Burial was in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Stephen Wilson Bartlett, 62, of Swannanoa passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
Steve was born May 10, 1953 to the late Howard and Pauline Smith Bartlett. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Howard Raymond Bartlett.
Steve is survived by his sisters, Mary Rita Guy of Ohio, Norma Jackson (Clyde) of Fletcher, and Rhonda Gray (Whitey) of Ridgecrest; sister-in-law, Marsha Bartlett and many nieces and nephews.

Bill Cassidy
Knoxville, TN
William Dennis “Bill” Cassidy, 52, of Black Mountain and Knoxville, TN, formerly of Buncombe County, NC, passed away unexpectedly January 25, 2016 at his home. Born January 1, 1964, he was the son of the late William and Lois C. Cassidy. He was an employee of UT Arena Vol. Network, and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Donna Wright Cassidy of the home; and brother, Ronnie Barns (Judy) of West Asheville.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6 at Grove Stone Baptist Church in Black Mountain with Rev. James Lamb officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held after the memorial service. Committal services will be held at a later date.
