Montreat College gets grant for residential hall
Montreat College has received a $50,000 grant from The Cannon Foundation for the ongoing renovation of Anderson Hall.
Anderson Hall, the largest residence hall on the Montreat College campus, was built in 1968 and recently completed the first phase of a comprehensive renovation project. While most of the major renovations - a new roof, building-wide ventilation improvements, remodeled and upgraded rooms and new parking lot asphalt - were completed during the $2 million phase, a few projects remain unfinished.
The second phase renovations include the repair, modernization and refurbishment of the only elevator in Anderson Hall. Coming in phase three are additional upgrades for the lobby: HVAC, a new rock façade, landscaping and windows.
The Cannon Foundation grant will cover $50,000 of the estimated $166,446 cost for the Phase 2 elevator renovations. The college is still soliciting the remaining funds for the completion of Phases 2 and 3 of the Anderson Hall renovations.
