The tennis courts at Lake Tomahawk served as a makeshift corral last week after a horse on the loose wandered through the surrounding neighborhoods.

Black Mountain Police officers were dispatched to the area when a horse was spotted roaming free around the golf course, said Lieutenant Rob Austin. The horse was leashed by officers and escorted to the tennis courts, he said.

The horse was placed in the care of Don Collins, who serves as large animal care coordinator for Buncombe County. The horse, which wandered to the golf course from the North Fork Left Fork area, was claimed by its owners.
