The Old Masters started with a clear image, mental or visual, of something before they started to paint. In its annual Fabulous Fakes exhibit, the Swannanoa Valley Fine Art League challenges members to peer into the work of the Old Masters to create work in their style.

The results are on view at the Monte Vista Hotel from Friday, Nov. 6 through Jan. 6. Fabulous Fakes allows artists to put their own twist on the works of an Old Master or create a work that resembles or in some way duplicates that of a famous creator.

More than 90 works will be displayed, curator Susan Hanning said, including watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings and possibly sculpture or fabric renderings.

For more, contact Red House Studio and Gallery at 669-0351 or svfalarts.org. The event is sponsored by the Swannanoa Valley Fine Art League, serving the Valley for 48 years. Parking and admission are free.
