Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley

The Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Sept. 10

Breaking or entering was reported on the 100 block of Old Jims Branch Road.

Criminal damage to property (vandalism) was reported on the 100 block of Cherry Street. A car sustained $400 in damage.

Misdemeanor breaking or entering was reported on the 100 block of Old Jims Branch Road.

Possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor drug offense were reported on the 200 block of Old U.S. 70.

Sept. 12

An animal bite was reported on the first block of Dehart Avenue.

Sept. 15

Breaking and entering and larceny were reported on the 600 block of Azalea Avenue. Clothing valued at $50 was reported stolen.

Sept. 16

Assault on a female was reported on the 500 block of N.C. 9.

Arrests

Aug. 30

Jonathan Amos Saunders, 22, of Asheville, was arrested on the first block of Riverwood Road and charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor probation violation.

Aug. 31

Kelsey Nicole Tolley, 20, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the corner of Avena Road and Flat Creek Road and charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of less than one half ounce of marijuana.

Michael Dean Ogle, 24, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Rider Lane and charged with felony probation violation, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Sept. 1

Jessica Althea Godwin, 33, of Marshall, was arrested on the 3000 block of U.S. 70 and charged with resisting public officers.

Carl August Peterson III, 47, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Connelly Road and charged with impaired driving while license revoked.

Jessica Lynn Vanderzand, 27, of Fairview, was arrested on the corner of Grovemont Avenue and Azalea Road and charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Sept. 3

Brittany Nicole Watson, 26, of Arden, was arrested on the first block of Lake Eden Road and charged with obtaining property under false pretense, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I controlled substance.

Clyde James Norton, 36, of Asheville, was arrested on the 200 block of Old Toll Road and charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny and felony probation violation.

Sept. 4

James Harold Hall, 29, of Asheville, was arrested at mile marker 59 on I-40 westbound and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sept. 6

Cass Dewayne Christopher, 35, of Asheville, was arrested on the 1200 block of Bee Tree Road and charged with communicating threats, intoxicated and disruptive and resisting public officers.

Sept. 9

Christopher Todd Burnette, 36, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the 500 block of Old U.S. 70 and charged with a civil order for arrest and resisting public officers.

Sept. 13

Vanessa Sue McMahan, 32, Joey Lee McMahan, 30, and Larry James McMahan, Jr., 31, all of Swannanoa, were arrested on the first block of Monk Court and charged with simple assault.
