Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley
The Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Incidents
Aug. 20
Possession of marijuana greater than half an ounce and less than one and a half ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing or concealing a weapon were reported on First Street.
Assault on a female was reported on the 100 block of Burning Tree Court.
Larceny was reported on the 100 block of Blue Ridge Assembly Drive. Cash totaling $200 was reported stolen.
Aug. 21
Possessing or concealing a weapon, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possessing or concealing drug paraphernalia were reported at business on the 3100 block of Old 70.
Simple assault was reported on the 100 block of Walker Cove Road.
Assault on a female was reported on the intersection of Avena Road and Padgettown Road.
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the 100 block of Patton Hill Road. Cash totaling $479 and a purse valued at $50 were reported stolen.
Breaking and entering with force was reported at a business on the 1900 block of U.S. 70. Two motorcycle helmets valued at a total $139, a copy machine valued at $200, leather motorcycle clothing valued at $300 and two motorcycles valued at a total of $7,000 were reported stolen.
Aug. 22
Larceny was reported on the 3100 block of U.S. 70. A Stihl weed trimmer was reported stolen.
Aug. 23
Larceny was reported at a business on the 100 block of Old 70. Boundary wire valued at $50, a dog yard trainer valued at $120 and pet flea and tick medication totaling $1,008 were reported stolen.
Damage to real property was reported on the 100 block of Harrison Street. A structure sustained $100 in damage.
An animal bite was reported on the 100 block of Edwards Avenue.
Aug. 24
Fraud was reported on the 200 block of Blue Ridge Road. Items with a total value of $2,000 were obtained under false pretense.
Aug. 25
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported at Rec Park. A checkbook valued at $1, prescription medication valued at $20, a backpack valued at $30 and glasses valued at $400 were reported stolen. A car window sustained $500 in damage.
Larceny was reported on the 100 block of Vance Avenue. Prescription drugs were reported stolen.
Aug. 26
Burglary by forcible entry and larceny from a building were reported at a business on the 100 block of WNC Shopping Center Drive. A door sustained $100 in damage. Personal checks valued at $100 and cash totaling $275 were reported stolen.
Possession of drug paraphernalia was reported on the 700 block of Old 70.
Failure to burn rear lamps, illegal U-turn, careless and reckless driving, aggressive driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, fleeing and eluding arrest and resisting arrest were reported on Hiawassee Avenue.
Arrests
Aug. 21
April Bernice Lewis, 42, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Long Branch Road and charged with cyberstalking and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Charles Noble Light, 51, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Wards Lake Road and charged with failure to appear in court and littering.
Aug. 25
Joe Luther Hornback, 44, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the 2700 block of U.S. 70 and charged with larceny.
Aug 26.
Laura Katherine Fuquay, 26, of Gloucester, was arrested on the first block of Knox Road and charged with attempted to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.
