Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley

Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Aug. 6

Possession of a stolen firearm was reported in the vicinity of a business on the 400 block of East State Street.

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the 2200 block of U.S. 70. Two flashlights valued at a total of $40 and a phone charger valued at $25 were reported stolen. An automobile sustained $500 in damage.

Aug. 7

Breaking or entering with force was reported on the 2200 block of U.S. 70. Seven vehicles sustained a total of $8,000 in damage.

Aug. 8

Robbery - common law was reported on the 1900 block of U.S. 70. Cash totaling $875 was reported stolen.

Aug. 9

Assault on a female was reported on Interstate 40 westbound at mile marker 62.5.

Aug. 10

Burglary was reported on the first block of Patton Cemetery Road. A purse valued at $50, an identification shield and badge valued at $75 and handcuffs and a handcuff case valued at $55 were reported stolen.

Larceny was reported on the 200 block of Old U.S. 70. A weed machine valued at $350, a jack valued at $50 and a set of jack stands valued at $25 were reported stolen.

Aug. 11

Fraud was reported on the first block of Goldmont Street. Money totaling $5,000 was obtained under false pretense.

Larceny was reported on the 1900 block of U.S. 70.

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the first block of Sunset Drive. A GPS system valued at $100, headphones valued at $50, a flashlight valued at $50 and a registration card were reported stolen.

Aug. 12

Motor vehicle theft was reported on the 300 block of Genesis Circle. A vehicle valued at $1,000 was reported stolen.

A domestic disturbance was reported on the first block of Fortune Street.

Arrests

Aug. 8

Edward Alan Mundy, 45, of Asheville, was arrested on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and resisting public officers.

Aug. 9

Jason Eric Bewley, 44, of Charlotte, was arrested on I-40 westbound at mile marker 62.5 and charged with assault on a female.

Aug. 10

Chad Shawn Case, 29, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the first block of Kappa Loop and charged with financial card theft, financial card fraud and exploitation of a disabled or elder adult.

Aug. 12

Jonathan Andrew McMahan, 26, of Swannanoa was arrested on the 3100 block of U.S. 70 and charged with simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
