Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley
Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Incidents
July 30
Larceny was reported on the 100 block of Sunset Drive. Lawn care equipment valued at $650 was reported stolen.
Fraud - obtaining money by false pretense was reported on the 300 block of West State Street.
Aug. 2
Larceny from a residence and breaking and entering were reported on the 400 block of Lakey Gap Road. A firearm valued at $700, a compound bow valued at $300 and a video game console and accessories valued at $350 were reported stolen.
Larceny - shoplifting was reported at a business on the 100 block of Old U.S. 70. A football valued at $8.56 was reported stolen.
Aug. 3
Assault - inflicting serious injury was reported on the first block of Knox Road.
Breaking or entering was reported on the 100 block of Woodland Drive.
Aug. 4
Larceny was reported on the first block of Peridot Point. A debit card and cash totaling $40 were reported stolen.
Aug. 6
Possession of a stolen firearm was reported near a business on East State Street.
Arrests
July 26
Sherwood Myles Little, 60, of Asheville, was arrested on N.C. 9 at the I-40 exit and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive.
July 27
Tammy Lara Gibbs, 37, of Old Fort, was arrested on the 100 block of Montreat Road and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Alex Rex Padgett, 25, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 200 block of Avena Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dustin Wayne Whitson, 29, of Asheville, was arrested on the 200 block of Avena Road and charged with simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
July 30
Michael Timothy Meagher, 52, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of Greenbriar Road and charged with communicating threats and assault on a female.
Chuck Allen Church, Jr., 38, of Lenoir, was arrested on the first block of Waverly Place and charged with injury to personal property and second-degree trespassing.
Fairest Christina Grant, 25, of Asheville, was arrested on the first block of Jordan Road and charged with resisting public officers.
Aug. 2
Avery Ray McKinney III, 25, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Mikey Drive and charged with communicating threats.
