Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley

Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

July 23

Larceny - from buildings was reported on the 200 block of Cragmont Road. Jewelry valued at $250, a tablet valued at $150, a camera valued at $120, a hand-held gaming system valued at $75, silver half dollars and two dollar bills totaling $90 and a phone charger totaling $10 were reported stolen.

Obtaining property by false pretense and credit card fraud were reported at a business on the 400 block of West State Street. Cash and travelers checks with a total value of $120 were obtained.

Assault on a female was reported on the 100 block of Abel Drive.

Assault with a deadly weapon was reported on the 300 block of Marion Avenue.

July 24

Tampering with a motor vehicle was reported on the 100 block of Lake Eden Road.

July 25

An animal bite was reported on the 200 block of Wilson Avenue.

July 26

Breaking and entering was reported at a business on the 600 block of West State Street. A metal door sustained $100 in damage.

July 28

Breaking and entering was reported on the the 100 block of West Greenbriar Road. Jewelry valued at $475 and prescription medication valued at $18 were reported stolen.

An animal bite was reported on the 100 block of Asheville Road.

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on the first block of Patton Cemetery Road. Two handguns with a total value of $850 were reported stolen.

July 30

Larceny and criminal damage to property were reported on the 1100 block of Montreat Road. A tire valued at $125 was damaged and landscaping equipment valued at $290 was reported stolen.

Arrests

July 20

Kyler Bradley Blessitt, 19, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of Kent Street and charged with resisting public officers.

July 24

Stephanie Rochelle Hunker, 45, of Asheville, was arrested on the 2000 block of U.S. 70 and charged with felony probation violation, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Matthew Joseph Rice, 32, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of Brooks Cove Road and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, violating a domestic violence protective order and three counts of misdemeanor child abuse.

July 27

Vanessa Lee Inabinett, 37, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Sylvester Way and charged with simple assault.

Edward Wayne Liles, 26, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with misdemeanor larceny.

July 29

Melvin James Russell, 26, of Asheville, was arrested on the first block of Myrtle Road and charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and injury to personal property.

Kimberly Nicole Oaks, 35, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the first block of Myrtle Road and charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering.

Randi Nicole Hipshire, 21, of Swannanoa, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
