Incidents and arrests in the Swannanoa Valley
Black Mountain Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department reported these incidents from May 28-June 3 and arrests from May 31-June 5:
Breaking and/or entering was reported on the 400 block of New Salem Road. A shotgun valued at $200 and a rifle valued at $168 were reported stolen.
Larceny from motor vehicle was reported on the 200 block of Flat Creek Road. Wheels and tires valued at $400 were reported stolen.
Criminal damage to property (vandalism) was reported on the 800 block of Hiwassee Avenue. A sliding glass door sustained $250 in damage.
Burglary - forcible entry and larceny - from buildings were reported on the 600 block of West State Street. Merchandise totaling $19,570 was reported stolen.
Injury to personal property was reported on the 100 block of N.C. 9. A recreational vehicle sustained $800 in damage.
Breaking and/or entering - misdemeanor was reported on the first block of Byas Lane. A window frame sustained $175 in damage.
Larceny of motor vehicle was reported on the first block of Opal Lane. A vehicle valued at $1,000 was reported stolen.
Larceny - shoplifting was reported at a business on the 500 block of N.C. 9.
Obtaining money by false pretense was reported at a business on the 200 block of N.C. 9 involving 19 Western Union money orders valued at $31,426.
Larceny - all other larceny was reported on the 100 block of South Ridgeway Avenue. Building materials totaling $350 were reported stolen.
An animal bite was reported on the 2700 block of U.S. 70.
Arson was reported on the first block of Red Raven Road. A Nissan Altima was burned.
