This photograph from the Swannanoa Valley Museum and History Center’s extensive photograph archives shows the H.R. Harrison & Co. store in downtown Swannanoa, a general provision store that was located near the Swannanoa train station on Railroad Street. The store’s location was convenient to local residents as well as tourists freshly disembarking from the train for a stay in the mountains. In the late 1940s, Harrison’s store was a haberdashery that supplied shoes, clothing and hats. Harrison also maintained a furniture store in the same building.
