The hearing to discuss the future of the proposed MRA lodge has been postponed from its original date of Sept. 23.

The Montreat Board of Adjustment meeting set for Sept. 23, to discuss the Montreat Retreat Association's new lodge, has been postponed do a later date still to be decided.

Angie Murphy, the Montreat town clerk, said the lawyers of all the parties involved with the hearing were concerned about COVID-19, with the meeting scheduled to take place in a small, enclosed space.

On Sept. 23, the original meeting date, the board will decide when the hearing will take place as well as in what format. The options include finding a new location away from the town that is in no way affiliated with the Montreat Retreat Association, holding the meeting entirely virtually or taking a hybrid approach of in-person and semi-virtual.

"See if the people that don't want to come can do virtual and leave the board here and everyone else meet at home," Murphy said.
