Sept. 12 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

A felony drug offense was reported on Aug. 29 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70. 

Obtaining property under false pretense was reported on Aug. 29 on the 100 block of High Street. 

Simple assault was reported on Aug. 29 on the first block of Tudor Way. 

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on Aug. 29 on the 400 block of East State Street. 

Drug violations and drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 29 on the 2900 block of U.S. 70. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported on Aug. 29 on the 500 block of West State Street. 

Harboring a fugitive was reported on Aug. 29 on the 600 block of West State Street. 

Simple assault on a female was reported on Aug. 30 on the first block of Mountain View Avenue.

Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 30 on I-40 at exit 64.  

A felony drug offense was reported on Aug. 30 on the 500 block of Warren Wilson Road. 

Vandalism was reported on Aug. 31 on Westview Avenue. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported on Sept. 1 on the 100 block of Montreat Road. 

Drunkenness was reported on Aug. 1 on the 2800 block of U.S. 70. 

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on Sept. 1 on the 200 block of Martin Road. 

Driving under the influence, failure to heed lights and sirens and driving after consuming an open container were reported on Sept. 2 at the intersection of Cragmont Road and Whispering Winds Drive. 

Driving under the influence and no rear lamps were reported on Sept. 2 on the I-40 eastbound at mile marker 58. 

Motor vehicle theft was reported on Sept. 4 on the 1100 block of Montreat Road. 

Drug violations and drug equipment violations were reported on Sept. 4 at the intersection of Cragmont Road and Tomahawk Avenue. 

Arrests 

Amanda Lee Witherspoon, 24, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 27 on the 500 block of N.C. 9 and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive and resisting a public officer. 

Jennifer Lynn Penley, 32, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 28 on the 100 block of Sutton Avenue and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Norman Charles Ducker, 23, of Old Fort, was arrested on Aug. 29 on the 500 block of West State Street and charged with driving with license revoked—not impaired. 

Christopher Alexander Lynch, 29, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 29 on the first block of Bright Hope Road and charged with assault inflicting serious injury. 

Christine Nicole Moore, 30, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 29 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana up to half an ounce. 

Laura Judson Foreman, 43, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 30 on I-40 westbound at exit 64 and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
