Sept. 5 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Assault on a female was reported on Aug. 23 on U.S. 70/ 

Vandalism was reported on Aug. 24 on the 100 block of Fifth Street. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported on Aug. 26 on Beech Tree Drive. 

Drunkenness was reported on Aug. 27 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Shoplifting was reported on Aug. 27 on the 2200 block of U.S. 70. 

Warrant services for offenses committed in another jurisdiction and drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 27 at the intersection of Sutton Avenue and Broadway Avenue. 

Arrests

Owen Lewis Burns, 30, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 17 on the 100 block of Sutton Avenue and charged with driving while impaired.

Anthony Richard Moreland, 48, of Irving, Kentucky, was arrested on Aug. 17 on the 100 block of Eastside Drive and charged with four counts of writing worthless checks.

Thomas Adam Corey, 32, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 18 on the 100 block of North Fork Road and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Reid Anthony Allendorf, 27, of Old Fort, was arrested on Aug. 19 on I-40 westbound at mile marker 65 and charged with driving while impaired and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane highway. 

Benjamin Garrett Hyneman, 31, of Abbington, Virginia, was arrested on Aug. 19 at the intersection of N.C. 9 and State Street and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Erica Leigh Gibson, 26, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Aug. 19 at the intersection of N.C. 9 and State Street and charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Joshua Austin Brock, 32, of Leicester, was arrested on Aug. 20 on I-40 westbound at mile marker 64 and charged with driving with license revoked while impaired, possession of heroin, driving with an expired registration and littering. 

Devon James Morris, 26, of Fairview, was arrested on Aug. 21 at the intersection of Cragmont Road and North Fork Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Ernesto Esquivel, 38, of Kannapolis, was arrested on Aug. 21 on I-40 at mile marker 77 and charged with assault by pointing a gun and eluding arrest.

Derrick Cecil White, 33, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 22 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive. 

John Christopher Watson, 28, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 23 on the 2800 block of U.S. 70 and charged with assault on a female. 

Marty Eric Pringle, 43, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Aug. 25 on the 200 block of Westwood Avenue and charged with failure to work after being paid. 

Patrice Nicole Groce, 31, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 28 on the first block of Bright Hope Road and charged with assault and batter and simple assault. 

Christine Nicole Moore, 30, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 29 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana up to half an ounce.
