Aug. 22 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Shoplifting was reported on Aug. 8 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70. 

Breaking and entering and larceny were reported on Aug. 8 on the first block of Blue Ridge Assembly Road. 

Illegal dumping was reported on Aug. 9 on the Camp Branch Road. 

Shoplifting was reported on Aug. 9 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported on Aug. 9 on the 100 block of Cragmont Road. 

Drug violations were reported on Aug. 10 on the 200 block of N.C. 9. 

Assault on a female and being intoxicated and disruptive were reported on Aug. 10 on the 200 block of N.C. 9. 

Disorderly conduct, drunkenness and simple assault were reported on Aug. 10 on the 2800 block of U.S. 70. 

Driving under the influence, failure to maintain a lane, driving with an open container and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance were reported on Aug. 10 on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 65. 

Driving while impaired was reported on Aug. 10 on the 2500 block of U.S. 70. 

Drug violations and theft from a building were reported on Aug. 11 on Cotton Creek Circle. 

Breaking and entering was reported on Aug. 11 on the first block of Staffordshire Drive. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction and drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 11 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road. 

A hit and run was reported on Aug. 12 on the 200 block of Avena Road. 

Destruction of property was reported on Aug. 12 on the first block of Jubilee Circle. 

Larceny was reported on Aug. 13 on the 800 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Two counts of breaking and entering were reported on Aug. 13 on the first block of Hillcrest Road. 

Theft from a building was reported on Aug. 14 on the 100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue. 

Drug equipment violations, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance were reported on Aug. 14 on the 200 block of N.C. 9. 

Felony drug offense was reported on Aug. 15 on the 100 block of Patton Cove Road. 

Arrests

Brandon Jay Hensley, 29, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 6 on Alpine Shadow Lane and charged with resisting a public officer. 

Brian Keith Leonhart, 40, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 6 on Lake Avenue and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, common law robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Misty Dawn Curry, 26, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 6 on the first block of Alpine Shadow Lane and charged with second degree trespassing. 

William Steve Atkins, 54, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 9 on the 500 block of N.C. 9 and charged with misdemeanor larceny and being intoxicated and disruptive. 

Isaiah Martin Fox, 33, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 9 on the 100 block of Cragmont Road and charged larceny by an employee. 

Christopher Chance Sheeds, 40, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 9 on the first block of Mountain View Road and charged with three counts of felony pretrial release violation. 

Adrienne Kress Ratti, 33, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 10 on the 2500 block of U.S. 70 and charged with driving while impaired and driving with an open container after consuming alcohol.

Shawn Austin, 51, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Aug. 10 on the first block of Patton Cove Road and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive. 

Robert Samuel Stroupe, 28, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Aug. 11 on the 700 block of Old U.S. 70 and charged with misusing the 911 system. 

Jennifer Nichole Richards, 28, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 11 on the 700 block of Old U.S. 70 and charged with misusing the 911 system. 

Natasha Sara Cole, 34, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Aug. 13 on the first block of Whitson Avenue and charged with possession of methamphetamine. 

Dana Paul Rogers, Jr., 34, of Fairview, was arrested on Aug. 14 on the 100 block of Harrison Avenue and charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female and assaultive child abuse. 

Thomas Scott Haynie, 37, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 15 on the 100 block of Patton Cove Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
