July 11 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction were reported on June 28 on the 3000 block of U.S. 70. 

Drug violations were reported on June 28 on the 3100 block of U.S. 70 West. 

Two counts of drug violations were reported on June 29 on Blue Ridge Road. 

Drug violations were reported on June 30 on Black Mountain Avenue. 

Damage to property was reported on June 30 on the 100 block of Bee Tree Road. 

Damage to property was reported on June 30 on the first block of Long Branch Road. 

An animal bite was reported on June 30 on the 300 block of North Fork Road. 

Two counts of simple assault were reported on July 1 on the 600 block of West State Street. 

Destruction of property was reported on July 1 on the 100 block of Seventh Street. 

Possible rabies exposure was reported on July 1 on the 100 block of Tucker Road.

Destruction of property was reported on July 3 on the 1100 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Warrant service for offenses committed in another jurisdiction was reported on July 3 on the 2600 block of U.S. 70. 

Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute methamphetamine; possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute cocaine; maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance; possession of Etizolam; possession of Clonazepan; possession of cocaine; counterfeiting or forgery and reckless driving were reported on July 3 on the Old U.S. 70 West. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on July 3 on the 100 block of Erman Drive. 

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on July 3 on the 2200 block of U.S. 70. 

Larceny was reported on July 4 on the first block of Kitzies Court. 

Motor vehicle theft was reported on July 4 on the 400 block of East State Street. 

Larceny was reported on July 4 on the 100 block of Black Mountain Avenue. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on July 4 on the 100 block of Rider Lane. 

Arrests 

Josh Taylor Hilyard, 39, of Asheville, was arrested on June 24 on the 100 block of Montreat Road and charged with second degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation and assault on a female. 

Jennifer Connarrie Hilbert, 37, of Black Mountain, was arrested on June 25 on the first block of Charlotte View Lane and charged with embezzlement. 

Heaven Marie Elaine Smathers, 20, of Asheville, was arrested on June 26 on the 2700 block of U.S. 70 and charged with impeding traffic and being intoxicated and disruptive. 

Robert Peterson III, 22, of Candler, was arrested on June 27 on the 1100 block of Old U.S. 70 and charged with misdemeanor larceny, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and resisting a public officer. 

Derrick Cecil White, 32, of Asheville, was arrested on June 27 on the 100 block of Wilson Avenue and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. 

Natasha Sar Cole, 34, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 28 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with resisting a public officer. 

Austin Dale Bright, 34, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 29 on the 100 block of North Avenue and charged with second degree kidnapping. 

Justin Todd Maness, 31, of Siler City, was arrested on July 1 on the first block of Knox Road and charged with three counts of pretrial release violation. 

Joshua Lynn Peek, 30, of Swannanoa, was arrested on July 2 on the 100 block of Rowland Road and charged with arson and felony probation violation. 

Reginald Maurice Pertiller, 57, of Swaannanoa, was arrested on July 3 on the first block of Opal Lane and charged with assault on a female. 

Henry Clifton Hensley, 62, of Asheville, was arrested on July 3 on the 100 block of North Avenue and charged with breaking or entering a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny.

Henry Norman Ward, 42, of Swannanoa, was arrested on July 4 on the 100 block of Martin Road Extension and charged with misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods. 

Henry Clifton Hensley, 62, of Asheville, was arrested on July 5 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
