July 4 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Blackmail was reported on June 20 on the 100 block of Chestnut Hill Road. 

Larceny of medication was reported on June 20 on the first block of Wagon Trail. 

Drug violations and warrant service for offenses were reported on June 21 at the intersection of Charlotte and Louisa Street.

Damage to property and communicating threats were reported on June 21 on the 200 block of South Laurel Circle. 

Warrant service for offenses in another jurisdiction was reported on June 21 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road. 

An animal bite was reported on June 22 on the 100 block of Byrd Road. 

Possible rabies exposure was reported on June 22 on the 100 block of Woodbend Lane. 

Trespassing and motor vehicle theft were reported on June 24 on the 100 block of WNC Shopping Center Drive. 

Kidnapping, aggravated assault and assault on a female were reported on June 24 near the 300 block of Black Mountain Avenue. 

Warrant service for offenses in another jurisdiction were reported on June 25 on the first block of Tree Canopy Lane. 

Assault inflicting serious injury was reported on June 24 on the 200 block of Varden Place. 

Shoplifting was reported on June 25 on the 100 block of Cherry Street. 

Trespassing, felony larceny and breaking and entering were reported on June 25 on the first block of Chinquapin Hill. 

Public drunkenness was reported on June 26 on the 2700 block of U.S. 70. 

Breaking and entering was reported on June 26 on the 200 block of Mountain Allen Heights. 

Communicating threats was reported on the 100 block of Fifth Street.

Larceny was reported on June 27 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road.  

Arrests

Kamecia Shawneray Tutt, 35, of Charlotte, was arrested on June 22 on the 2200 block of U.S. 70 and charged with misdemeanor larceny.

Christa Haylie Hughes, 22, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 24 on the 100 block Marion Avenue and charged with assault inflicting serious injuries. 

Joseph Aaron Staley, 23, of Marion, was arrested on June 24 on the 100 block of Marion Avenue and charged with assault inflicting serious injuries. 

Tyler Gage Rumbough, 24, of Leicester, was arrested on June 26 on the first block of North Fork Right Fork Road and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. 

Jessica Leigh Hannah, 37, of Asheville, was arrested on June 26 on the first block of North Fork Right Fork Road and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods.

Timothy Andrew Allen, 29, of Asheville, was arrested on June 26 on Cragmont Road and charged with parole violation. 

Austin Ray Smith, 29, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 26 on the 2500 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
