June 13 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

An animal bite was reported on May 30 on the 100 block of No Name Road. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on May 31 on the 300 block of Lake Eden Road.

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on May 31 on the 300 block of Charles Court. 

Wire fraud was reported on May 31 on the first block of Peridot Point. 

Obtaining property under false pretense was reported on May 31 on the 200 block of Tabernacle Road. 

Shoplifting was reported on May 31 on the 100 block of Cherry Street. 

Felony breaking or entering was reported on May 31 on the 100 block of Myrtle Road. 

Larceny was reported on May 31 on the 2200 block of U.S. 70. 

Possession of a stolen vehicle was reported on June 1 on the 100 block of Springdale Road. 

Drug violations were reported on June 1 on Old Lakey Gap Road. 

Drug equipment violations were reported on June 1 on I-40 westbound at mile marker 61.

Possession of cocaine, weapon law violations, drug equipment violations and resisting arrest were reported on June 1 on the 500 block of West State Street. 

Driving while intoxicated was reported on June 1 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Possession of a stolen motor vehicle was reported on June 2 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70. 

Possession of a stolen motor vehicle was reported on June 2 on the 300 block of Melody Circle. 

Possible rabies exposure was reported on June 2 on the 600 block of Rhododendron Avenue. 

Possible rabies exposure was reported on June 3 on the 100 block of Wingspread Drive. 

Credit card fraud was reported on June 4 on the 100 block of Last Resort Terrace.

Fraud was reported on June 5 on the 100 block of Steady Aim Lane. 

Arrests

Christopher David Knuth, 33, of Chapel Hill, was arrested on May 25 at the intersection of N.C. 9 and Jane Jacobs Road and charged with driving while impaired.

Christopher John Swayngim, 27, of Candler, was arrested on May 28 on the 100 block of Montreat Road and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and providing fictitious information to an officer. 

Kassie Ann Thompson, 30, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 29 on the first block of Sameera Drive and charged with simple assault. 

Michael Dylan Jenkins, 26, of Asheville, was arrested on May 29 at the intersection of East State Street and Richardson Boulevard and charged with possession of stolen goods. 

Jonathan Mitchell Roberts, 29, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 20 on the first block of Sameera Drive and charged with assault on a female. 

Brian Ashley Rhodes, 39, of Fairview, was arrested on May 29 at the intersection of East State Street and Richardson Boulevard and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Earl Buckner Lewis III, 40, of Swannanoa, was arrested on May 31 on the first block of Wray Avenue and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats. 

Lance Michael Burr, 31, of Asheville, was arrested on June 1 on the 500 block of N.C. 9 and charged with driving while impaired. 

Austin Blake Padgett, 23, of Asheville, was arrested on June 2 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. 

Arvon Perry Laughter III, 47, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 2 on the 300 block of Melody Circle and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. 

Chase Abbagail Sosa, 38, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 2 on the 300 block of Melody Circle and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. 

Marty Eric Pringle, 42, of Swannanoa, was arrested on June 3 on the 2000 block of U.S. 70 and charged with failure to work after being paid.
