June 6 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Assault on a government official was reported on May 23 on the 700 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Larceny was reported on May 23 on the 100 block of Cragmont Road. 

An animal bite was reported on May 24 on the 100 block of Central Avenue. 

Drug equipment violations were reported on May 24 on WNC Shopping Center Drive. 

Damage to real property was reported on May 24 on the 200 block of Old U.S. 70.

Resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer was reported on May 25 on the 100 block of N.C. 9. 

Driving under the influence was reported on May 25 at the intersection of Jane Jacobs Road.  

Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on May 25 on the 1900 block of U.S. 70. 

Breaking or entering — with force was reported on May 27 on the 2100 block of U.S. 70. 

Traffic offenses were reported on May 27 on the first bock of Burgins Chapel Road. 

Possession of a stolen vehicle was reported on May 28 on the 200 block of N.C. 9. 

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on May 28 on the first block of Aqua Drive. 

Identity theft was reported on May 28.

Destruction of property was reported on May 28 on the 100 block of West Brook Street. 

Misdemeanor larceny was reported on May 28 on the first block of Forest Lane. 

Stolen property offenses and drug equipment violations were reported on May 28 at the intersection of State Street and Richardson Avenue. 

Vandalism was reported on May 28 on the 1300 block of N.C. 9. 

Felony breaking or entering — no force was reported on May 28 on the first block of Laura Bell Lane. 

Fraud was reported on May 28 on the 100 block of Black Bear Track Loop. 

Possession of a stolen vehicle was reported on May 28 on the 2000 block of U.S. 70. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on May 29 on the 100 block of Montreat Road. 

Two counts of simple assault were reported on May 29 on the first block of Sameera Drive. 

Arrests 

Adam Caleb Carpenter, 23, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 27 on the 400 block of Cragmont Road and charged with two counts of misdemeanor probation violation and felony probation violation out of county.

Joseph Alan Moseley, 38, of Asheville, was arrested on May 27 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule VI controlled substance; felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Stephanie Karen Rieger, 25, of Asheville, was arrested on May 28 on the first block of Sassafras Valley Road and charged with felony breaking or entering, larceny after breaking or entering and obtaining property under false pretense. 

Austin Ray Smith, 29, of Swannanoa, was arrested on May 28 on the 2000 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. 

Randall Tyler Gragg, 25, of Swannanoa, was arrested on May 28 on the first block of Sassafras Valley Road and charged with obtaining property under false pretense.
