Feb. 7 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests
The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Incidents
Counterfeiting — buying or receiving and obtaining property under false pretense were reported on Jan. 24, on the 2200 block of U.S. 70.
Driving while license revoked, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, drug equipment violation and driving with an open container were reported on Jan. 24 at the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Old Lakey Gap Road.
Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on Jan. 25, on the 100 block of East Charleston Avenue.
Driving under the influence, driving with an open container after consuming alcohol, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane were reported on Jan. 25, on I-40 westbound at mile marker 63.
Possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance; Possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; maintaining a vehicle for the distribution of a controlled substance; drug equipment violations; possession of a stolen firearm and driving with a fictitious tag were reported on Jan. 25, at the intersection of WNC Shopping Center Drive and U.S. 70.
Driving while intoxicated was reported on Jan. 26, on the 2000 block of U.S. 70.
Felony breaking or entering — no force was reported on Jan. 26, on the 300 block of Yates Avenue.
Drug violations, drug equipment violations and weapon law violations were reported on Jan. 27, on the 300 block of West State Street.
Felony breaking or entering — no force was reported on Jan. 27, on the 1800 block of U.S. 70.
Felony breaking or entering — with force was reported on Jan. 27, on the 1200 block of Bee Tree Road.
Larceny from a coin-operated machine and damage to property were reported on Jan. 27, on the 500 block of Old U.S. 70.
Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle was reported on Jan. 28, on the 200 block of N.C. 9.
Simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance was reported on Jan. 29, on N.C. 9.
Larceny was reported on Jan. 30, on the 200 block of Vance Avenue.
Arrests
Henry Alvin Turbyfill, 65, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Jan. 20, on Blue Ridge Road and charged with driving while impaired.
Danny Ray Lilly, 54, of Elkin, was arrested on Jan. 25, on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with second degree trespassing.
James Robert Saunders, 23, of Asheville, was arrested on Jan. 25, on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny.
Leigh Anne Gabardini, 57, of Cornelius, was arrested on Jan. 25, on I-40 westbound at mile marker 63 and charged with driving while impaired and driving with an open container after consuming alcohol.
Dustin Lee Jones, 37, of Asheville, was arrested on Jan. 25, on the 200 block of N.C. 9 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting public officers.
Vance William Keeter, Jr., 28, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Jan. 25, on U.S. 70 and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute a Schedule VI controlled substance; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Robert Joseph Mason, 25, of Asheville, was arrested on Jan. 26, on the 2000 block of U.S. 70 and charged with driving while impaired.
Aaron Matthew Poole, 30, of Marion, was arrested on Jan. 28, on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Raymond Anthony Oliver, 45, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Jan. 30, on the 2300 block of U.S. 70 and charged with possession of more than an ounce-and-a-half of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
David Michael Ayers, 49, of Swannanoa, was arrested on Jan. 30, on the 1800 block of U.S. 70 and charged with driving while impaired.
