Aug. 23 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Failure to return rental property was reported on Aug. 3 at the intersection of Sutton Avenue and South Ridgeway Avenue. 

Possession of marijuana up to half an ounce was reported on Aug. 3 at the intersection of Sutton Avenue and South Ridgeway Avenue. 

Drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 4 on the 2700 block of U.S. 70. 

Larceny by an employee was reported on Aug. 4 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Driving under the influence was reported on Aug. 5 on Cragmont Road. 

Driving while license revoked and no rear brake lamps were reported on Aug. 6 on the 100 block of Carver Avenue. 

Identity theft was reported on Aug. 8 on the 900 block of N.C. 9. 

Possession of more than half an ounce - an ounce-and-a-half of marijuana was reported on Aug. 9 on the first block of Vance Avenue. 

Identity theft was reported on Aug. 9 on the 300 block of Montreat Road. 

Robbery and aggravated assault were reported on Aug. 9 on the 100 block of Old U.S. 70 East. 

Possession of methamphetamine and drug equipment violations were reported on Aug. 9 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road. 

A liquor law violation was reported on Aug. 9 on the 1100 block of Bee Tree Road. 

Credit card or ATM fraud was reported on Aug. 10 on the 1100 block of Montreat Road. 

Larceny was reported on Aug. 10 on the 100 block of Hunter Kilby Road. 

Damage to personal property was reported on Aug. 10 on the 100 block of Higdon Ridge Road. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on Aug. 10 on the 700 block of Buckeye Access Road. 

Destruction of property was reported on Aug. 11 on the 100 block of South Ridgeway Avenue. 

Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, driving with an open container, providing fictitious information to an officer and having a fictitious tag were reported on Aug. 11 on North Fork Road. 

An animal bite was reported on Aug. 12 on the 100 block of Harrison Street. 

An animal bite was reported on Aug. 12 on the 2200 block of North Fork Right Fork Road. 

Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on Aug. 13 on the first block of Locust Street.

Larceny was reported on Aug. 13 on the 400 block of North Fork Road. 

Destruction of property was reported on Aug. 14 on the 3000 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance was reported on Aug. 14 on the 800 block of Cherokee Avenue. 

Driving while license revoked was reported on Aug. 15 on U.S. 70 West. 

Careless and reckless driving and speeding were reported on Aug. 15 on Grovestone Road. 

Arrests

Kenneth Lane Thomas, 49, of Candler, was arrested on Aug. 4 on the 500 block of State Street and charged with insurance fraud. 

Johnny Ray Pruett, 63, of Black Mountain, was arrested on Aug. 5 on the 100 block of Cragmont Road and charged with driving left of center and driving while impaired.

Richard Lonnie Beall, 47, of Weaverville, was arrested on Aug. 9 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine. 

Tyrell William Elmore, 20, of Arden, was arrested on Aug. 9 on the first block of Vance Avenue and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. 

Jerry Jackson, 65, of Asheville, was arrested on Aug. 10 on the 400 block of West State Street and charged with four counts of writing a worthless check.
