Aug. 9 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrest
The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Incidents
Resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer and driving with license revoked were reported on July 26 on the 400 block of West State Street.
Destruction or damage of property was reported on July 26 on I-40 westbound at mile marker 65.
Two drug violations and a drug equipment violation were reported on July 27 on N.C. 9.
A pretrial release violation was reported on July 27 on the 500 block of N.C. 9.
Failure to maintain lane control, driving under the influence and driving with no insurance were reported on July 27 near the intersection of N.C. 9 and Dogwood Lane.
Driving with license revoked was reported on July 27 at the intersection of Rhododendron Avenue and Laurel Circle.
Driving while impaired was reported on July 28 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70.
Driving with license revoked was reported on July 29 on I-40 westbound at mile marker 63.
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on July 29 on the 400 block of Cragmont Road.
Simple possession of marijuana was reported on July 30 on the 400 block of Blue Ridge Road.
A felony drug offense was reported on July 30 on the 2300 block of U.S. 70.
A felony drug offense was reported on July 30 on the 100 block of Chalmers Way.
Simple assault was reported on Aug. 1 on the 100 block of South Ridgeway Avenue.
Arrests
Michael Eugene Edwards, 55, of Asheville, was arrested on July 21 on the 200 block of N.C. 9 and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive.
Jerry Alvin Jones, Jr., 37, of Black Mountain, was arrested on July 25 on the I-40 exit 64 off ramp and charged with simple assault.
Randall William Taylor, 30, of Black Mountain, was arrested on July 26 on the 400 block of West State Street and charged with driving with license revoked - not impaired and resisting public officers.
Erica Leigh Gibson, 25, of Swannanoa, was arrested on July 27 at the intersection of N.C. 9 and Jane Jacobs Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana up to half an ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Jeffrey Garron McCourry, 31, of Mars Hill, was arrested on July 27 on Laurel Circle and charged with driving with license revoked - not impaired.
John Andrew Van Arnam, 51, of Asheville, was arrested on July 28 at the intersection of N.C. 9 and Dogwood Lane and charged with driving while impaired, failure to maintain lane control and operating a vehicle with no insurance.
