Mayor proclaims June 11 Kenny Capps Day in Black Mountain
After running across the state to raise awareness and money for Multiple Myeloma, Black Mountain's Kenny Capps was recognized with his own day.
Mayor Don Collins read a proclamation announcing June 11, 2018 as "Kenny Capps Day" in Black Mountain.
Capps started headed west from the Outer Banks on April 1 and traversed the length of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail to Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the North Carolina-Tennessee state line. It took him 54 days to complete the journey, in which he averaged 22 miles per day.
The proclamation stated that Capps' run "brought pride and joy to the citizens of Black Mountain."
