May 24 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests
The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.
Larceny from buildings was reported on May 10 on the first block of Timber Park Lane.
Burglary was reported on May 11 on the 500 block of West State Street.
Felony breaking or entering-with force was reported on May 11 on the 700 block of N.C. 9.
Burglary-forcible entry and larceny were reported on May 11 on the 500 block of West State Street.
Common law robbery was reported on May 11 on the 500 block of N.C. 9.
A liquor law violation was reported on May 11 on the 100 block of Lake Eden Road.
An animal bite was reported on May 11 on the 100 block of White Oak Trail.
Larceny was reported on May 12 on the 300 block of Asheville Road.
Driving while impaired was reported on May 12 on the 100 block of Old U.S. 70 East.
Statutory rape was reported on May 13 on the 600 block of West State Street.
Assault on a female was reported on May 13 on the 1100 block of Old U.S. 70.
Resisting, delaying or obstructing were reported on May 13 on the 200 block of Flat Creek Road.
Damage to personal property was reported on May 13 on the 100 block of Mimidis Lane.
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on May 15 on I-40 westbound.
Jeffrey Daniel Newsome, 44, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 5 on the 1500 block of Grovestone Road and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon; carrying a concealed gun; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of methamphetamine; simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession of marijuana paraphernalia; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving with license revoked-not impaired; and having a fictitious title or registration.
Richard Thomas Doe, 24, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 9 and on the 100 block of Carver Avenue and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive.
Thomas Mark Richard Hughey, 21, of Black Mountain, was charged on May 11 while in custody of the Buncombe County Detention Center with two counts of first-degree forcible sex offense, first-degree forcible rape, second-degree kidnapping and a domestic violence protection order violation.
