Organizers are holding an informational meeting at the school June 5 to engage the community in various committees needed to make the playground a reality. The committees include recruitment, fundraising, food, construction, youth activities, public relations, safety and logistics. Organizers will have a Design Day the afternoon/evening of Aug. 7 which will involve many community members and youth. Fundraising co-chairs are Amy Berry and Rachel Sudnik.

Kids from the local community, led by Black Mountain Primary’s PTO, will help dream up the playground. Elements from their drawings will be incorporated into the playground design options. The community will then choose the final design.
Through May 31, Black Mountain Primary School is running a “Pennies For Our Playground” campaign both. Students are being encouraged to bring spare change from their homes to deposit in containers in the front office. The school is also accepting dollar bills (make checks out to BMP PTO). At the end of May 31, the change will be tallied, and the classroom with the most point will win a Popsicle party.
