May 17 Swannanoa Valley crimes and arrests

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these recent incidents and arrests.

Incidents

A felony drug offense was reported on May 4 on the 800 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported on May 4 on the 3200 block of Old U.S. 70. 

Simple assault was reported on May 4 on the 100 block of Harrison Avenue. 

Larceny was reported on May 4 on the 200 block of Chapel Road. 

Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, fictitious registration, concealing weapons and possession of a firearm by a felon were reported on May 5 on the Grovestone Road. 

Two larcenies were reported on May 6 on the 300 block of Bee Tree Road. 

Possession of a firearm by a felon was reported on May 8 on the 100 block of Riverwood Road. 

Criminal damage to property was reported on May 8 on the first block of Mountain View Avenue. 

Larceny of a check book was reported on May 8 on the 500 block of N.C. 9. 

Simple assault was reported on May 9 on the 100 block of Lake Eden Road. 

Driving while impaired was reported on May 9 on the 100 block of Lytle Cove Road. 

Crime

Arrests 

Sabrina Leigh Waldrup, 43, of Swannanoa, was arrested on April 28 on the 2900 block of U.S. 70 and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. 

Tami Zanette Caldwell, 43, of Asheville, was arrested on April 29 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road and charged with trafficking opium or heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Joe Chastiyn Banks, 34, of Black Mountain, was arrested on April 30 on the 400 block of Blue Ridge Road and charged with assault on a female and communication of threats. 

Brittney Christine Schuit, 31, of Asheville, was arrested on May 2 on the 100 block of Flat Creek Road and charged with two counts of assault and battery and resisting a public officer. 

Thomas Mark Richard Hughey, 21, of Black Mountain, was arrested on May 4 on the first block of Alpine Shadow Lane and charged with assault on a female, false imprisonment, violating a domestic violence protective order and assault by strangulation.
