Man charged in Simpsonville shooting death
Simpsonville Police on Thursday arrested Davorien Laquez Ray, 22, in connection with the killing of Collin Khalil Starcher, 21, who died of gunshot wounds.
Ray was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, police said. Ray was being held without bond.
The alleged offense occurred Jan. 23 at the Gateway Village Apartments, 501 Boyd Ave. Starcher, of Greer, was found in the parking lot of the apartments that evening and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
Deputy Coroner Jeff Fowler said Starcher was involved in an altercation with one or more people before witnesses reported hearing gunshots about 7:20 p.m.
