Miss Asheville has roots in the Valley
Hannah Leeann Harvey, the reigning Miss Asheville 2018, isn’t a stranger to Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley.
Although Harvey graduated from North Iredell High School in Olin, North Carolina and is currently a resident of Watauga County by virtue of Appalachian State University, she has deep roots in the Valley.
She is the granddaughter of Ralph G. and Geneva C. Harvey of Swannanoa (deceased). Her aunts are Barbara Harvey Wallen (Robert, of Jacksonville) Penny Harvey Dalton (David, of Fairview) and Karen Harvey Hyatt of Fairview. Her father is Robin L. Harvey (Kathy, of Statesville).
Harvey has a sister, Chelsea Ann Harvey of Statesville, and a brother Kyle Lee Harvey of Charlotte. Her extended family on her father’s side were all raised in Swannanoa and graduated from Charles D. Owen High School.
Harvey is a junior at Appalachian State University, where she is a double major in secondary English education and theater arts education. She is also an Appalachian State University Ambassador who plans to pursue a master’s degree after graduation next year.
Her next goal is to perform in the Miss North Carolina pageant in June 2018.
