James R. “Bob” Wheelon, Sr.
Frostproof
James R. “Bob” Wheelon, Sr., 84, of Frostproof, FL and formerly of Black Mountain, NC, passed away September 23, 2017.
James was born October 18, 1932 in Burke County to the late James and Rooney Wheelon. James was very active in the Black Mountain community for numerous years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Betty Wheelon; wife, Virginia Wheelon; and brother, Gene Wheelon.
James is survived by his son, James R. Wheelon, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Sheline (Danny); step-children, Judy Castillo (David) and Gary O’Dell (Sandy); sister, Hazel Stephens; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Friday, September 29, 2017 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Harwood Home for Funerals, with a celebration of life service immediately following. Burial was at Mountain View Memorial Park.

John Lawrence Pellom
Black Mountain
John Lawrence Pellom, 89, of Black Mountain passed away Monday, September 25, 2017.
Mr. Pellom was born May 4, 1928 in DeKalb County, GA to the late John and Julian Pellom. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Black Mountain where he served as a greeter. John was a merchant in Black Mountain for 68 years, working in his father's watch shop starting in 1949 making and repairing watches. He was a member of the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge and the Junior Order.
John loved Black mountain and the people that were not only his friends, but those that visited.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Leagon Pellom and sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Ross Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay Laws and husband, Bill of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Matthew Thomas (Emily), Katie Hutchins (Michael) and Patrick Laws (Beth) and great grandchildren, Carson, Abby and Carter.
The family received friends Friday, September 29, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harwood Home for Funerals. Private services will be held at a later date.
Allen H. Reimer
Black Mountain
Allen H. Reimer, 92, passed away Thursday, September 28 at Givens Highland Farms Center in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Wilson) Reimer; nephews, Cal Unruh (McPherson), Wayne Unruh (Hutchinson); and nieces, Joan Nikkel (Goessel), Ruth Klaassen (Wichita), Maggie Davenport (Leawood) and Debra Schmidt (Lawrence).
A memorial service will be held in Black Mountain and a graveside service at Goessel Mennonite Church (Goessel, Kansas) is pending. Harwood Home for Funerals is assisting the family.
