Learning more about bats

Students from The Learning Community School and ArtSpace Charter School take part in a live bat presentation at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts with naturalist Vicki Smith on Sept. 14. On their way into the gallery and theater, students stopped to appreciate the giant fiber art bat created by Theresa Coté. The third grade at W.D. Williams watched the presentation on Sept. 13.
Students from The Learning Community School and ArtSpace Charter School gather in town square and receive bat puppets created by event organizer Libba Tracy before “flying” to the Black Mountain Center for the Arts' gallery and theater for a live bat presentation with naturalist Vicki Smith. Elements of the event will be on display through Oct. 6.
