Arts league announces winners in 50th juried show
The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League selected Susan Sinyai 's work “Aspen Light” as Best of Show in its 50th annual juried show.

The show opened last week at Red House Gallery and runs through Sept. 3. More than 100 people gathered at the gallery July 14 to celebrate the artists and to view David Collin’s anamorphic marlin that looks as if it is jumping out of the old swimming pool in the gallery’s front yard.
The judge of the show, Fleta Monaghan, awarded seven artists with cash prizes. First place went to Barbara Frohmader for “Early Morning Peace.” Sue Sweterlitsch won second place for “Swannanoa River.” Steve Hue won third place for “Sirena.” And artists Pat Cotterill, Cheryl Paben, and Patricia Tuglas each received honorable mentions for their work.
“This is our biggest show in 50 years, and we wanted to award lots of prizes so our members would be blessed," curator Susan Lueck said. "We asked each member to submit their best recent creation and over 45 did. This made for an outstanding show."
