Crime report in the Swannanoa Valley
The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these incidents and arrests.
Incidents
May 26
Fraud was reported at a business on the 300 block of West State Street.
May 27
Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and concealing weapons were reported on U.S. 70.
May 28
An animal bite was reported on the 3600 block of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Felony breaking or entering with force was reported on the 100 block of Jordan Road.
Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a drug paraphernalia were reported on the 500 block of N.C. 9.
May 31
Damage to personal property was reported on the 100 block of Lake Eden Road.
Arrests
May 22
Kira Teshel McElwain, 33, of Swannanoa, was arrested at the intersection of U.S. 70 and New Bern Avenue and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
May 25
Christine Howard Buckner, 41, of Leicester, was arrested at the intersection of N.C. 9 and Dogwood Lane and charged with misdemeanor child abuse, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and driving with license revoked - not impaired.
Tony Lee Buckner, 44, of Weaverville, was arrested at the intersection of N.C. 9 and Dogwood Lane and charged with simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and resisting public officers.
May 26
Justin Scott Owenby, 21, of Old Fort, was arrested at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Blue Ridge Road and charged with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Brandon Jay Hensley, 27, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of Vance Avenue and charged with attempting to obtain property under false pretense, possession of stolen goods and forgery of an endorsement.
