Crime report in the Swannanoa Valley

The Black Mountain Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department reported these incidents and arrests.

Incidents

Feb. 2

Larceny was reported on the 2000 block of U.S. 70.

Shoplifting was reported at a business on the 200 block of N.C. 9.

Feb. 3

Possession of Schedule I, Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia were reported on the 200 block of N.C. 9.

Feb. 4

Criminal damage to property was reported on the 500 block of N.C. 9.

Feb. 5

Possessing a stolen motor vehicle was reported on the 400 block of West State Street.

Feb. 6

A traffic offense was reported on the 2300 block of U.S. 70.

Simple physical assault was reported on the first block of Penelope Street.

Fraud was reported on the 200 block of Montreat Road.

Feb. 7

Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance was reported on at the intersection of North Daugherty and West State Street.

A county ordinance violation was reported on the 100 block of Powlas Drive.

Arrests

Jan. 31

Daniel Ziegler, 47, of Asheville, was arrested on the 100 block of Montreat Road for failure to report change of address.

Feb. 1

Steven Luther Daugherty, 58, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 500 block of N.C. 9 and charged with being intoxicated and disruptive.

Feb. 3

Ricky James Wright, 61, of Swannanoa, was arrested on the 200 block of N.C. 9 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 4

Brittany Ann Taylor, 27, of Old Fort, was arrested on the 2900 block of U.S. 70 and charged with second-degree trespassing.

Clarence Dwayne Stuart, 59, of Black Mountain, was arrested on the 100 block of West Brook Street and charged with discharging a firearm in the city.
