Community gives feedback on bus route

About 25 people stopped by the town hall in Black Mountain on July 12 for a public input session regarding Asheville Redefines Transit route 170.

The meeting was called to seek input from people who ride the bus after ART announced it would discontinue service to and from Warren Wilson College beginning Aug. 1.

Members of the public gather at Black Mountain's town hall on July 12 to provide feedback on ART bus route 170.

Those in attendance were asked to fill out surveys detailing their use of the service. City of Asheville transportation planning manager Mariate Echeverry attended the meeting and had a chance to talk to riders on the route face-to-face.

"Most of the attendees were glad to hear that the route 170 continues going to Black Mountain," she said in an email. "There was some feedback about going on Old U.S. 70, and also about revising the schedules."

As of now the only change to the route will involve the Warren Wilson College stop.
