Former SVCM director designs HALO cards

Special To The Black Mountain News

For many years, Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry has made available Holiday Alternative Love Offering (HALO) Christmas Cards. This year begins a new tradition of displaying artwork created by someone with a special connection to the Ministry.

Our HALO card for 2018 was designed and painted by former SVCM Executive Director Renae Brame.

Former director of the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry Renae Brame designed the Black Mountain-based nonprofit organization's Holiday Alternative Love Offering (HALO) Christmas Cards this year.

“I was honored when Cheryl asked me to design the Holiday Alternative Love Offering card,” said Brame. “Christ is at the center of the heart reaching out in love and service to us.  In turn, we share His love by helping those who are living in situations of poverty.  The dove represents the peace of Christ, and the poinsettia represents the joy of Christ.  I was brought to tears know that through your financial gifts of support to the HALO Program, many, many clients – women, men, and especially children – will receive assistance with their needs – heat, power, water, shelter, and many other life-sustaining services.  Thank you for sharing Christ’s love, peace, and joy this Christmas season.”

When you make a gift to the ministry in honor or in memory of a family member or a loved one, a HALO card will be sent to the family of that person to acknowledge your gift.

Also, HALO cards are available for purchase at a cost of $5.00 each, envelopes included.  If you would like to purchase HALO cards, commemorate a loved one, or would like to learn more, please contact Cheryl Wilson, SVCM Executive Director, at 828-669-9404 or at
