Lake Tomahawk duplicate bridge results
The Lake Tomahawk Duplicate Bridge Group played at the Lakeview Center on Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain on Aug. 7. There were two winners. Coming in first for north-south were Dan McGaughey and Lynda Bridges. Coming in first for east-west were Bill Abramson and Barbara Lilenfeld. The game is free every Tuesday night. The Front Porch Theatre holds auditions
The Front Porch Theatre at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts is casting actors for its upcoming production of The God Game by Suzanne Bradbeer. Auditions will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 and from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.
The theatre is seeking three strong actors: two men in their 40s and a woman around the same age. The story centers around Tom, an attractive junior Republican Senator from Virginia, and a rising star who is lately questioning his beliefs.
Rehearsals begin in late September for production dates Oct. 19-21, 26-28 and Nov. 2-4. For more information contact fpt@blackmountainarts.org or call 669-0930.
Hand in Hand offers lunch
Hand in Hand will offer a roast beef lunch on Friday, Aug. 17 at Grove Stone Baptist Church. Roast been, gravy, mashed potatoes, salad, green beans, a drink and dessert will comprise the full dinner. Carry-out is available. Serving hours are 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and plates are $9. All proceeds go to the six schools in the Owen District. To place an order call Lois Nix at 669-7868.

Tabernacle United Methodist Church will celebrate 181 years of service with homecoming services beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26. New minister Rev. Lisa Beth White will deliver the sermon and a picnic on the lawn will follow. The community is invited to the event.
Regional Seawind Championship coming to Lake Tomahawk
The Black Mountain Yacht Club will host the Region 3 Seawind Championship at Lake Tomahawk on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9. Skippers from eight states are invited to attend this regatta, with the reigning national and regional champion already commited to attend. The public is invited to come out and cheer on our local skippers as they take on some of the best skippers in the country.
