Black Mountain students walk to school

Black Mountain News

On Oct. 4 communities around the country celebrated Walk to School Day. Black Mountain was among them.

Parents and children make their way east on First Street before crossing the road on their way to Black Mountain Primary during Walk to School Day Oct. 4.

The town's recreation and parks department organized two locations - the parking lot of First Baptist Church and the Flat Creek Greenway trailhead - for parents and their children to grab coffee from Dynamite Roasting Co. and sign in before walking to school.

The town recreation and parks department helped Black Mountain hold Walk to School Day Oct. 4.

Children received free pencils and safety gear as they made their way to class before the bell.
