Dennis C. Roland (Elvis), 76, of Black Mountain, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Mr. Roland was born December 12, 1940 in Buncombe County. Dennis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served as a Buncombe County Sheriff for 7 years. Along with his love for his family came a love for the Lord. He was a wonderful prayer warrior and a trusted friend to many. Often seen dancing with his beautiful wife Brenda, he always had a smile for everyone. He used his resemblance to Elvis as a tool to tell others about the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him. Dennis was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Roland; brother, Charles Roland; and grandson, Bailey Smith.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 23 years, Brenda Epps Roland; daughters, Debbie Bartlett (Ronnie) of Black Mountain, Lisa Mumpower (Bryan) of Swannanoa, and Deana Orta (Quillon) of Swannanoa; sons, Matthew Roland (Maria) of Huntsville, AL, and Jack Lunsford of Barnardsville; mother, Pearl Roland of Black Mountain; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. at Kerlee Heights Baptist Church.A Celebration of Life Service immediately followed with Rev. Charles Duyck and Rev. Kenneth Rhinehart officiating.  A private burial was at Mountain View Memorial Park.  Arrangements are by Harwood Home for Funerals,

Edward Ray Creasman, 63, of Black Mountain, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017.

Mr. Creasman was born August 9, 1953 in Buncombe County to the late Clyde and Jennie Creasman. Edward was employed with Montreat College in the Maintenance Department, and he was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his brother, Forest Creasman.

Edward is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Phillips Creasman; daughter Kaitlyn Marie Robinson (Simon) of Old Fort; sons Barry Gordon Creasman (Cristina) of Marion and Raymond Fletcher Creasman (Marcy) of Black Mountain; sister Barbara Creasman of Asheville; brother Bill Creasman (Cheryl) of Asheville; and 7 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Gaither Chapel in Montreat with Rev. Terry Roach and Dale Patton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to assist the Creasman family. Arrangements are by Harwood Home for Funerals.

Lucy Flasher, 74, of Black Mountain, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017.

Mrs. Flasher was born December 9, 1942 in Madison County to the late Perry and Martha Marler. She devoted much of her time volunteering at Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries.   In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Flasher.

Lucy is survived by her sisters, Laura and Kathy; brother, Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends Monday, June 19, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Harwood Home for Funerals with a celebration of life service immediately following.  Burial followed at 2 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.  Harwood Home for Funerals is assisting the family.
