Herbert A. Edwards

Herbert A. Edwards, May 20, 1931 – March 31, 2017.  Herb, one of five brothers, was born to Marvin and Virginia Edwards in Tryon, NC.  He graduated from Tryon High School and Appalachian State University.  A Marine, he served during the Korean Conflict.  Herb worked as a Human Resources Manager at various factories, including Old Fort Finishing, retiring in 1993 from Bussman in Black Mountain.

A member of St. James Episcopal Church, Herb served in many leadership roles, 7 years as Senior Warden.  Some community and volunteer positions include Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, VA Hospital, and The Black Mountain Board of Aldermen.

Herb is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine; sons, Randy (Kathy), Mark, Jeff (Vonnie); daughter, Dee (Sam); four grandsons, Derek (Jen), Brian (Kristen), Lane, and Beary; and five great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12 p.m.  A reception followed in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to St. James Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Harwood Home for Funerals, harwoodhomeforfunerals.com.
